Fast-growing South Korean natural beauty brand and retailer Nature Republic has opened its first store in Indonesia.
The 142 square metre store is located in the Lippo Mall in Indonesian capital Jakarta, a popular gathering venue for teenagers and 20-somethings.
The latest store opening is another clear demonstration of Nature Republic’s accelerating overseas business expansion plan.
The company plans 10 further store openings in the country, in cities including Bandung, Surabaya and Bali by the end of this year. It also expects that Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim country – with an economy backed growing at 5% – will be a stepping stone to other Muslim communities.
Following its entry into Indonesia, the company will seek to expand its business in the Middle East and European countries, the company said.
Nature Republic opened its first store in March 2009. Stores were opened outside of South Korea in Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia in 2011. In 2011, the brand opened its first store in Cambodia and launched its first store in the Philippines on November 13, 2012. The brand has also has 17 stores in the US. It recently opened a store in Torrance, California, and has plans to open another in Elmhurst, New York as part of plans to continue building its presence in the country.
