Could you share with us any great ideas to continue promoting this sector?
We only remember Santa Rita when it thunders, because that happens to us humans, we only remember what is ecological and healthy, when we are in poor health and even when we are admitted to a hospital. It is then when we realize that we are nothing, our quality of life is what we sow. It is worth eating healthy, to have a strong heart and therefore have that vitality that we undervalue.
Tell us more specifically what you do, and what makes it so special
I am an Industrial Engineer and since I am passionate about nature, I have started, together with my wife, a new business selling organic extra virgin olive oil. Its mild flavor makes it special since it is a Coupage (oil made with the Hojiblanca and Arbequina varieties).
What techniques or systems do you use to produce organic?
The oil mills we work with use the integrated production system. This system allows the maximum use of natural and traditional resources, before resorting to other less orthodox methods. The following is done: – underground drip irrigation, – generation of electrical energy by solar panels, -composting of the remains of olives and alperujo, – conservation of the vegetal cover in the streets of the olive trees, – foliar fertilization, – monitoring of pests to apply the right treatment at the right time, – pruning shredding rather than burning, are part of the techniques used.
