UK-based organic drug-free allergen barrier balm pioneer HayMax reports strong trading in 2018, with turnover up 15% despite an uncertain economic climate.
Growing sales in overseas markets – exports now account for 10% of total business – has been a key factor in the company’s strong performance. Haymax balms are now in eight export markets, including Spain, Switzerland and Denmark
HayMax MD and creator of the organic drug-free allergen barrier balm, Max Wiseberg, comments, “I am proud that after 14 years of trading, HayMax is showing such strong growth. Our growth has been driven through consistent marketing, active and successful PR and through word of mouth recommendation. HayMax is now widely available in Boots, Holland & Barrett, Morrisons, Ocado, as well as hundreds of independent health stores, pharmacies and chemists.”
The brand was a pioneer of natural preventative products. Wiseberg continues: “At first people, including the medical profession, were sceptical. But people tried the product for themselves and we commissioned independent research and trials and won people over; now everyone loves it and prevention is seen as a key to health and wellbeing.”
Turnover and profits for the brand both increased in 2018 with the flagship product, HayMax Pure, showing a 22% increase in turnover. This helped to drive growth in the organic health and beauty sector of 20%.
Wiseberg sees strong signs for continued success in 2019. “There is still so much scope for growth and HayMax remains a brand with great opportunities and potential. We have recently completed distribution deals meaning we are in 8 export markets and are continuing to receive further enquiries; I hope to negotiate 2 or 3 more overseas distribution deals this year.
“And I am also in discussion with some universities about running further trials on the efficacy and different applications of HayMax.”
