This year the Consortium once again guarantees excellent fruit and wide availability of products and brands
With the Royal Gala variety, the harvest of the VOG Consortium, one of the largest apple producers in Europe, began in mid-August, with a production of 460,000 tons, 30,000 of which are from organic production.
VOG’s 4,600 growers, 300 of whom are exclusively dedicated to organic farming, harvest their apples in the ideally suited area of South Tyrol – Südtirol in the Italian Alps. Summer 2023 confirmed one of the area’s key climatic features: the temperature variation between day and night, which is essential for growing crisp, juicy and richly flavoured apples, along with the more than 300 days of sunshine a year that illuminate the area.
This situation, together with a good water supply, has resulted in a high-quality harvest, confirming the year-round availability of a wide assortment of organic apples, from traditional varieties to more innovative brands that appeal to modern consumers.
With a market opening from the very start of the season, VOG will have a major focus on the organic segment, starting with the Marlene® Bio brand. The daughter of the Alps apple will see several new developments this season that will be presented during Fruit Attraction, the international fruit and vegetable fair scheduled for 3-5 October in Madrid.
VOG – Home of apples for organic too.
The VOG Consortium is the place where you can find the right apple for every need and every market, alongside the leading production and marketing experts.
This also applies to organic produce, which for over thirty years has been an integral part of the Consortium’s development: a growing segment that has become increasingly important every year and which now represents 10% of the surface area cultivated by the consortium’s producers, with a production capacity that can meet market demand 12 months a year.
Thanks to its quality and ability to meet its customers’ needs, VOG’s organic apples are already present in over 40 markets, including Germany, Spain, Italy, UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Benelux, as well as outside Europe, in the Middle East and Asia.
Varieties and brands for the modern consumer
Today’s organic market has plenty of potential, but is also competitive. This is why simple organic products are no longer enough for modern consumers; they want brands that guarantee flavour, quality and values with which they can identify.
The VOG range meets these needs because it offers apples suitable for different consumers and lifestyles, but always of the utmost quality and from a closely controlled production chain.
The Consortium is present on the markets with its own Biosüdtirol and Marlene® Bio – daughter of the Alps brands, popular with consumers all over the world. The range also includes successful brands like Pink Lady® Bio, Kanzi® Bio, Evelina Bio® and envy™ Bio, as well as the latest additions Giga® Bio, RedPop® Bio and Cosmic Crisp® Bio, three next-generation apples suitable for organic farming and ideal for the second half of the season. Finally, the Consortium’s assortment includes well-established and exclusively organic brands and varieties such as Natyra®, Topaz, Pilot, GoldRush® and Bonita.
Thanks to its origin, experienced and efficient organisation, and rich assortment, the VOG Consortium is the ideal partner to manage the organic apple category at your point of sale.
