The Natural Beauty & Spa Show (part of Natural & Organic Product Europe) has released its exciting Natural Beauty TALKS Theatre line-up – aimed at beauty retailers and professionals. As well as central conversations about the future of sustainable beauty, other topics span across beauty retail, the cost-of-living crisis, treating menopause, beauty and wellness trends, skin microbiome and much more. The free-to-attend seminar programme will take place at ExCeL London on Sunday 16 and Monday 17 April.
The ‘green consumer’ to ‘green compliance’
Millie Kendall OBE, CEO British Beauty Council will moderate an exciting panel titled ‘Meeting the green consumer challenge’. The panel (taking place on 17 April at 12pm) will consider the challenges faced by brands and consumers to balance budgets and beliefs. How are brands being affected – and responding to – the cost-of-living crisis? The talk will also highlight what’s driving consumer demand and why the “green consumer” encompasses more than just environmentalism. The panel will include beauty stalwarts: Anabel Kindersley (co-owner of & co-chair of Neals Yard Remedies), Jessi Barker MBE (Founder & CEO of Provenance), Lauren Murrell (Founder & CEO of Sarah London), Paige Tracey (Businesses Dev Manager, Non-Food, Soil Association).
Jayn Sterland from Sustainable Beauty Coalition and Managing Director of Weleda will hold an important session discussing ‘Green Compliance’ on 17 April at 2pm. This panel will explore responsibility of manufacturers to ensure they meet both environmental and legislative needs providing practical advice about producer responsibility, including navigating the latest green claims in beauty products, and EU regulation. The panellists include sustainable beauty experts: Victoria Brownlie (Chief Policy Officer, British Beauty Council.) DR Mark Smith (Director General, NATRUE), Sian Sutherland (Co-founder, A Plastic Planet), and Jo Chidley (Founder & CEO, Beauty Kitchen).
Insights for the beauty retailer
Viridian Nutrition Soil Assocation & Evergoods will take to the stage to discuss how retailers (and brands) can lean into scientific skincare trends. Skincare actives like vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and retinols have never been more popular with consumers, with 1 in 3 saying they now research skincare ingredients to check their efficacy. While it may not be immediately apparent, certified organic and natural brands can also create effective formulas lead by such actives, while still ensuring the environment is protected throughout the production process. Join moderator Paige Tracey with Karen Kung (CTO & Founder of Evergoods), and Aimée Benbow (Head Nutritionist at Viridian Nutrition) on 16 April at 11am.
With the rise of Pop-Up skin clinics in store, Zerqa Malik, European Commercial Director of Abundance and Health, will discuss how hosting a Pop-Up Skin Clinic can offer customers a free non-invasive Aram Huvis Pro skin test, increasing footfall and customer engagement. Learn about Altrient’s new Skin Personality on 17 April at 1pm – Every attendee will receive a voucher for a free Aram Huvis Pro skin test at the Abundance and Health stand.
Joe Poxon will share some all-important retail insights. Visitors can find out various ways to get proprietary, custom formulated, custom branded, custom packaged personal care products on shelves, for much less.
There are a whole host of advantages to retailers having their own range of products, but until now white label has been the only reasonable route. Discover a different way in Joe’s talk on 16 April at 12pm.
Consumers of natural cosmetics demand clarity and transparency about ingredient origin, ethics and sustainability, but consumers and manufacturers are equally faced with increasing amounts of information on-pack. In light of recent accelerated consumer interest, familiarity and use of digital means to orientate, evaluate and purchase products, NATRUE commissioned a survey focusing consumer perception and expectation of digitisation and digital tools. Join Dr. Mark Smith, Director General of NATRUE on 16 April at 2.30 to discuss this consumer survey and more.
This is only a handful of sessions to see at the show. For the full seminar programme (including seminars in the Natural Product TALKS Theatre), please visit www.naturalproducts.co.uk/seminars-main.
The next best sustainable beauty products
Sustainable beauty is all about making conscious and informed choices when it comes to the products consumers use and how they use them. This includes using products made with natural and organic ingredients, free of additives, chemicals, and produced in an environmentally responsible way. The Natural Beauty Show at Natural & Organic Products Europe has been pioneering this for over 25 years – providing the industry with trend-setting brands for retailers to explore.
Running alongside the seminar programme, the beauty show floor will be full of plastic free shampoos, natural and organic skincare, refillable make-up, reusable personal care products, and much more. Some brands confirmed include Eco by Sonya, Absolute Aromas, Ana Rosa Skincare, Peace & Pure, Fruu Cosmetics, Inika, Pravera, Dr Organic and Wild Cosmetics – and others.
