US plant-based foods leader Beyond Meat says that its latest product addition – Beyond Beef – has begun hitting retail shelves. And the company has confirmed that its next big launch will be a plant-based bacon range.
Beyond Beef is a new plant-based ground meat made without GMOs, soya or gluten designed to deliver the same versatility, meaty texture and juiciness of traditional ground beef.
Beyond Beef is designed to not only look, cook and satisfy like traditional ground beef, but also to be versatile enough to be used in any ground beef recipe including tacos, dumplings, Bolognese, sliders and more. Made with a blend of pea, mung bean and rice proteins, the new beef alternative is said to deliver the meaty taste and texture of beef, along with marbling intended to melt and tenderize for a satisfying home cooking experience.
“We are thrilled to introduce consumers to our latest product innovation, Beyond Beef,” said Ethan Brown (pictured), Beyond Meat Founder and CEO. “This plant-based ground meat allows consumers to enjoy all the culinary versatility of ground beef, with the added nutritional and environmental benefits of eating plant-based meat.”
Beyond Beef started arriving on store shelves late last month and is expected to be available across the US at participating retailers within the new few weeks.
In an interview with CNN this week, Brown confirmed that a new bacon product was well into development, but said that a launch date had not yet been decided.
