As part of a new three-year agreement with McDonald’s Corporation, US brand Beyond Meat is to be the burger chain’s preferred supplier for the patty in its new plant-based McPlant burger, currently being tested in select restaurants globally.
The global agreement will also see Beyond Meat and the fast-food giant look at co-developing other plant-based menu options – such as alternatives to chicken, pork and egg – as part of a wider McPlant range.
The deal expands the relationship between the two brands, which started in 2019 with the Canadian test of a sandwich made with Beyond Meat’s plant-based patty.
