Green People to donate 10% of profits to The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK

Organic skincare brand Green People has announced that it will donate 10% of net profits generated by its September sales to its charity partner of the year, The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK (EDS UK).

The daughter of Green People founder Charlotte Vøhtz, Alexandra Kay Vøhtz Petersen, was diagnosed with the debilitating and incurable connective tissue disorder Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome in her mid-twenties, and Green People started working with EDS UK shortly after.

Alexandra Kay, who passed away in June 2021 following a long health battle with the condition, would have celebrated her 29th birthday in September. In her memory, Green People is continuing her legacy of helping others through sales of the Alexandra Kay wellbeing collection and by raising awareness of this rare disease.

“Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome takes years to diagnose, cannot be cured and is a condition that there is little information about or support for,” explains Vøhtz. “Our donation drive honours my daughter’s legacy and aims to raise vital funds for the fantastic work that EDS UK does to inform healthcare professionals and support EDS patients and their families.”

Green People is aiming to raise £10,000 for EDS UK in September and, as the charity’s MD Kay Julier explains, the money will make a significant difference to the small charity: “To have £10,000 raised in September would be absolutely incredible! An amount like this would provide several months of security for our core support services – the helpline, information via our website, our magazine and our volunteer-led support groups.

“We know from our beneficiaries how heavily they rely on these services. They tell us that it makes such a huge difference to them, knowing that there is a listening ear available and someone who understands what they are going through.”
