The Climate Collaborative, a US initiative that aims to “leverage the power of the natural products industry to reverse climate change”, says it will send a rallying call to potential new recruits at next month’s Natural Products Expo event in Baltimore.
The Climate Collaborative launched on Climate Day at Expo West on March 8, 2017, as a partnership project of the organic business leaders’ alliance OSC2 and the Sustainable Food Trade Association.
With a mission to “catalyze bold action, amplify the voice of business and promote sound policy to reverse climate change”, the grouping has developed a series of climate and sustainability initiatives which companies are invited to sign up to. To date, nearly 400 businesses have made commitments to one or more of these initiatives.
The Climate Collaborative also had the early support of the New Hope Network, organiser of the Natural Products Expo events. Together they will host a special climate-themed workshop at the Baltimore event – Pathways to Partnership: How to Build True Collaboration on Climate.
Founder of the Climate Solutions Summit and the keynote speaker for the session, Jurriaan Kamp, comments: “Global warming presents the greatest-ever opportunity for humanity to create the clean, healthy and just world many of us, for decades, have been tirelessly working for.”
Kemp says he hopes the session will “help build the road map to the next phase of meaningful collective action”.
