Swedish advocacy group Svensk Egenvård (Swedish Self-Care) has launched a new “custom certification” scheme for manufacturers of dietary supplements, herbal remedies, sports nutrition and weight management products.
Under the new scheme, accredited third party auditors assess companies on how well they meet regulatory requirements, industry guidelines and international protocols.
Svensk Egenvård says it developed the scheme to increase consumer confidence in the self-care sector, and provide brands with an opportunity to demonstrate best practice.
Certified for Self-Care is a time-limited certification that is reviewed annually, and requires a renewal of a certificate every three years. Audits are conducted by independent auditors from Lloyds’s Register LRQA.
Svensk Egenvård says by signing up to scheme companies can gain a competitive advantage. The organization says: “By implementing and working towards a quality management system is an effective way of displaying documented evidenced of serious work on food safety. At the same time it often means increased productivity, reduced costs dues to lower complaint rates and higher levels of customer satisfaction.”
