The organiser of the Natexpo trade show, Spas Organisation, has proclaimed its 2020 edition as the “official restart” of the organic sector in Europe. The company has boldly described Natexpo as “the first event in the organic sector to defy the crisis”.
Last week the French Government gave the go-ahead for trade shows to recommence on 1 September.
In a statement, Spas Organisation, said: “Thanks to the trust displayed by exhibitors and the support of the entire sector, Natexpo will open as planned on 21-22 September at Eurexpo, Lyon (France).
Around 700 exhibitors have signed up for this year’s event, and the organiser says that visitor registrations are up 10%, compared to the 2018 Lyon show (the event alternates yearly between Paris and Lyon).
Commenting on the fast-moving Covid situation, the show’s organiser says: “To enable the event to take place in the best possible conditions of safety and comfort for exhibitors and visitors, the organisers will be taking all the security measures as circumstances require.”
The company also highlights the opportunity for organic brands and processors to leverage the growing support for organic from consumers that has been evident throughout the Covid crisis. “Consumers have channelled their buying towards organic products during the lockdown period, leading to record-breaking sales today. This situation comes as confirmation that organic products offer a means of fulfilling the expectations of French shoppers.”
