Sales of organic food and drink at Lidl Denmark have been growing “explosively”, according the Danish weekly newspaper Dansk Handelsblad.
Depending on the season, organic already accounts for 10-15% of Lidl’s 110 stores across Denmark.
While organic sales nationally rose 14% last year in Denmark, Lidl managed an extremely impressive 25% growth at its tills – and the German-headquartered discounter is determined keep up the pace.
Speaking with Dansk Handelsblad, purchasing director at Lidl Denmark, Mikko Forsström, said: “We see great potential with organic. Our goal, over the next two to three years, is to increase our organic sales by 50%. The most important thing for us is to ensure that we have the right range to meet consumer’s demand, while offering best quality at best prices
