Vegan spiced kebab meat is launching in Sainsbury’s stores across the U.K from today (October 12).
The plant-based meat, which is made by Swedish company Oumph!, is made from a soy base. It is suitable for use in classic kebab dishes, wraps, stir-frys, and on pizza topping among other dishes.
In addition, Oumph! Kebab Spiced has picked up a slew of prizes, including Best New Food Product of the Year – Food Matters Live, UK (2019) and Best Vegan Meat – PETA UK (2019).
‘Expand the variety’
In a statement sent to Plant Based News, Rosie Bambaji, plant-based buyer at Sainsbury’s, said: “We are excited to launch Oumph!’s Kebab Spiced at Sainsbury’s as we continue to expand our plant-based offering and increase the variety of products available to meet consumer demand.”
Laura Weadock, head of retail sales at Oumph! in the U.K, added: “We are delighted that Sainsbury’s is adding Oumph! to its frozen plant-based range and will be available to its customers from October 12.”
