From ‘killing the beauty consumer’ to ‘Blue Beauty’
Natural Beauty Show reveals its inspiring speaker programme

At MalmöMässan, the Natural Beauty Show will host a variety of inspiring talks on 16-17 November. With the sustainability sector quickly disrupting the beauty industry, this speaker programme is an opportunity for Nordic beauty retailers and professionals to gather and debate about this thriving market.

This year the event has launched a brand new feature area called the Beauty Bar. This area will offer a more relaxed environment for the important beauty industry to network, grab a coffee, host meetings and catch some exciting sessions in the ‘speakers’ corner’.

Beauty trailblazers from NATRUE, AllergyCertified, Ecovia Intelligence, Balade En Provence, Glow Organic, DeltaDerma, Skandinavisk SR ApS, NOC Sweden, KOSMETIK; BEAUTYNEWS.dk; Aftonbladet; and Daisy Beauty will take to the stage across the two days. They will touch upon topics like greenwashing, ‘Blue Beauty’, microbiota in cosmetics, certifications, sustainable beauty trends and more.

Event Director Melina Viking comments: “With sustainability in focus, we are very proud to have the Natural Beauty Show run alongside Eco Living Scandinavia – presenting an all-encompassing event for the industry to source new products, ready for the Scandinavian markets. Buyers joining us in Malmö can expect a taste of what the future of sustainable beauty has to offer!”

A new private influencer event – titled ‘influencing green beauty’ – will run alongside the trade show on 16 November, which invites 20 beauty influencers to learn about how to work with the latest green beauty brands. The exclusive session with retailer and beauty consultant Mel Jenkinson will cover the importance of sustainable beauty and how to build a successful influencer business. This will be followed by the prestigious Who’s Who in Green Beauty Scandinavia Awards at 4pm.

Speaker highlights in the Beauty Bar (Speakers Corner) include:

Who’s Who in Green Beauty Scandinavia | 16 Nov | 16:00 pm – 16:45 pm

Come along for a glass of bubbly to celebrate these champions of green beauty! The judges’ top ten personalities – from independent retailers and brand owners to product developers, journalists and influencers – will be revealed.

Killing the beauty consumer | 17 Nov | 10:30 am – 11:00 am

Shaun Russell, Skandinavisk SR ApS is the founder of fragrance company Skandinavisk and the Chair of the Supervisory Board of the B Corp Beauty Coalition. His talk titled ‘killing the beauty consumer’ will explore how the wrong words in the beauty industry are sending us all in the wrong direction.

The skin-friendly bacteria: Microbiota in cosmetics | 17 Nov | 11am-11.30am

Diana Malcangi from NATRUE will talk about one of the most important trends in cosmetics – fermented ingredients like probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics and, generally, cosmetics that preserve the skin’s natural microbial flora. So, what does microbiota mean and why is skin bacteria is beneficial for your skin?

Why use a certification on your product? | 17 Nov | 11am-11.30am

Toxicologist and co. founder of AllergyCertified Ewa Daniél will discuss why beauty certifications are important to build authenticity, trust and transparency to consumers looking for natural, organic and sustainable products. Straight after, Ewa will have a second talk titled ‘Is natural and organic always the best choice?’ at 11:30am – 12:00pm.

DeltaDerma: Discovering how zinc works | 17 Nov | 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm

Michaël Van Der Jagt and Tuva Christoffersen from DeltaDerma will introduce technology and formula used in DeltaDerma products and will deliver a short presentation of small-scale studies that have been done so far with the care cream on different skin conditions.

Blue Beauty: Trend explanations and best practices | 17 Nov | 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Alexandre Vidal from Balade En Provence will take to the stage to talk about the ‘Blue Beauty’ trend, providing date, best practices and examples. Blue Beauty means safe, sustainably sourced ingredients PLUS ocean-safe ingredients and reused, recyclable, or refillable packaging.

Some unmissable beauty talks will also take place in the Eco Living Talks Theatre:

Greenwashing: What is behind the environmental claims? | 16 Nov | 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM

Viktoria Potko from NATRUE will discuss how natural cosmetics represent a fast-growing and dynamic sector of the cosmetics industry. With the advent of greenwashing, certification schemes remain one of the most reliable ways to ensure the integrity and honesty of green claims and prove the authenticity of natural origin to the consumer.

Sustainability: Trends in the beauty industry | 17 Nov | 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM

Is sustainability just a buzzword? What really is sustainability and how do we navigate the landscape of “sustainable beauty?” Agneta Elmegård, beauty editor from Aftonbladet has studied sustainability strategies at Cambridge University and will share her expert knowledge in sustainability and beauty in this insightful presentation.

Sustainability in the Cosmetics Industry: Trends and outlook | 17 Nov | 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm

Iveta Kovacova from Ecovia Intelligence will show the various ways cosmetic companies are embracing sustainability: from ethical sourcing of raw materials, green formulations, sustainability schemes, to green packaging initiatives. An update will also be given on green issues in light of the pandemic, and also how operators are developing products for a circular economy. Future projections will be given in terms of sustainability developments: what does the future hold?

Beauty Editor Insights | 17 Nov | 2:00pm – 3:00pm

The Editors of Skönhetsredaktörerna, Kosmetik Magazine and Daisy Beauty Professional will explore the show floor and will discuss the biggest current and up-and-coming trends in natural beauty based on the products found.
