Quito/Madrid, May 2023.- Generate personalized Circular Economy models for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and associations in the Ecuadorian territory in favor of cleaner production and proper waste management, achieving sustainability. These are the bases of the Green Circular cooperation project , co-financed by the European Union and implemented by the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (FEDEXPOR).
The “Circular Economy, a sustainable, renewable and efficient model in Ecuador” program focuses on promoting a more committed, friendly and co-responsible production with the environment, with efficiency indices in productive matters and job creation, in addition to strengthening the production and export of Ecuadorian companies.
Its objectives are aligned with the existing demand of the international market, which go hand in hand with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and above all with joint work between public actors in charge of sustainable development and the territory, such as companies that they seek economic, social and environmental results, as well as society, which must ask itself about its real needs.
With an initial duration of 27 months, the initiative is designed to be able to support different productive sectors of the country distinguished by circularity in their processes, such as the agri-food, wood or textile sectors . It will also work with other sectors that demonstrate their alignment in the different activities of the project, such as Decentralized Autonomous Governments and Ecuadorian civil society , whose activity meets the requirements proposed by FEDEXPOR: ongoing businesses that have a circular approach and generate sources of employment, with involvement of women, and open to change, to new opportunities and demanding demands from different markets.
The companies Ovomas SAS, Alimentarte SABIC, EQF El Queso Francés SA, Falusan, Promepell, Banchisfood SA, Saloya Productos Naturales Sapnat SA, Cooperativa de Producción de Panela “El Paraíso”, Fuente San Felipe SA, and DDOS Industria Alimenticia participate in the project. .
Green Circular is part of the Project to Support the Circular Economy in Ecuador financed by the European Union, which is structured around three main axes: support for circular economy policies, in follow-up to the White Paper on Circular Economy; support for the implementation of forums and networks of stakeholders and the certification of circular economy products and processes; and support for ventures in the circular economy, in which this initiative is framed.
