Copenhagen’s world famous visitor attraction Tivoli Gardens is hosting a series of Organic Days this month.
The event, a collaboration between Tivoli and Danish agriculture body Landbrug & Fødevarer (L&F), is aimed at “speeding up access to organic fast food”.
The well timed five-day event follows publication of a survey showing that just 2% of Danes think that organic fast food is widely accessible. It will feature a range of activities for all ages including seminars, workshops, cooking demonstrations and children’s games. There is also a dedicated business day.
Tivoli already outperforms most theme parks with its organic and sustainable food options and six out of its 29 sales outlets have Fødevarestyrelsen organic food labels (økologiske spisemærk). The theme park says the new collaboration is an “obvious opportunity to spread the message of a broader organic food supply”.
Dorthe Weinkouff Barsøe, vice president, brand & communication, says: “For a couple of years Tivoli has worked on implementing a strategy for sustainable meals. ‘Our food must taste great’ is the strategy’s first bid, but organic and animal welfare come soon after, and we managed to get plenty of organic and high welfare foods without raising prices, simply by rethinking the recipes that Tivoli sells.”
Organic Days at Tivoli take place on September 11-15 2019.
